Stage System Design

As part of our clearance range, we have a number of connectorised cable reels, snakes and fantails in channel sizes from 8-channel to 32-channel.

Snake Cables

Snake cables are made in 10m, 30m and 50m lengths. 8ch, 12ch and 16ch systems use male-to-female multipole connectorisation.

24ch and 32ch snakes are supplied fitted with female connectors at both ends requiring short (0.5m) male-to-male adaptor cables to connect to 24/32-channel reel snakes.

Cable Reel Snake

These are based on standard R380/460 size reels, modified to allow a large flange plate fitted with the appropriate number of XLR connectors. All reel snakes come with parallel-wired male and female connectors per channel for application flexibility.

The reeled multicore cable is always terminated with a female multipole connector.

8ch, 12ch and 16ch boxes.
Most junction boxes, like the reel snakes, have parallel-wired male and female XLR connectors fitted. They are available with either male or female multipole connectors fitted, or with one each male and female multipole connectors fitted, wired in parallel.
Junction boxes with only male XLR connectors fitted are made, and come with female multipole connectors. Likewise, boxes with only female XLR connectors are made, supplied with male multipole connectors.

24ch boxes.
Two types are made, both with parallel-wired male and female XLR connectors per channel. The first has one male multipole connector fitted and the second is made with two, parallel-wired male multipole connectors.

32ch boxes.
Again made with parallel-wired male and female XLR connectors and fitted with either one male multipole connector, or two parallel-wired male multipole connectors. Two boxes are available with male 32ch multipole connectors and, in addition, have a pair of 16ch system compatible multipole connectors.

Canare FantailFantails

8ch, 12ch and 16ch fantails.
These are made with male multipole connectors wired to female XLR connectors, or with female multipole connectors wired to male XLR connectors. All tail lengths are 1.5m.

24ch and 32ch fantails.
All fantails are supplied with male multipole connectors. They are available with a choice of either male or female XLR connectors.

Additional Wiring Information

8-channel and 12-channel systems use the same multipole connectors (NK27-series) and are wired such that system parts may be mixed and still function on the first eight channels.

16-channel, 24-channel and 32-channel systems each have dedicated sized multipole connectors and may not be interconnected between series except for 32-channel junction boxes fitted with 16-channel connectors in addition to the 32-channel connectors.
