Sound Devices, LLC was founded in 1998 to fulfill a single, bold promise "To build field-production audio products that improve their customer's work life".
Sound Devices products are assembled in Reedsburg, WI USA, in a defined, repeatable process. With parts from suppliers worldwide, all Sound Devices products are designed
and built to withstand punishing extremes and have proven their performance in extreme locations ranging from the high-altitude mountains of the Himalayas to the
Costa Rican rain forests via the streets of Los Angeles. When portability, durability, and no-compromise audio fidelity matter most Sound Devices is the choice for the most critical of audio applications.
7-series Portable Digital Recorders
The high-resolution 7-Series family of digital audio recorders shatter the size, performance, and feature-set paradigms of previous generations of audio recorders.
They are the next generation—replacing digital and analog tape-based portable recorders with far more powerful file-based digital recording devices.
The two-track recorders (702, 702T, 722) and four-track (744T) write and play audio files with
either 16 or 24-bit depth at all professional sampling rates, up to 192 kHz.
New arrivals, the 702/702T, are detailed on the 702/702T page.
The 722/744T page has details and lists the features of both 722 and 744T recorders.

Audio Mixer/Interface Range
302
The Sound Devices 302 is probably the most fully featured ultra compact battery powered audio mixer in existence. A most
harsh critic could probably only find fault in the fact that each channel is merely furnished with pan switches (L C R) rather than pan pots! In equal portions ruggedised audio jewellery and practical
device, a piccolo problem solver, the must have mini-mixer.
442
The Sound Devices 442 is their take on the "standard" 4 into 2 over the shoulder battery powered audio mixer of most durable construction. Notable features are three pairs of separate isolated line
level outputs, sunlight viewable twin 20 element sector led array metering that is switchable VU/PPM and Pop-Up pots for secondary controls.
HX-3
The Sound Devices HX-3 battery powered Headphone Amplifier provides 3 very high quality isolated independent headphone outputs with individual gain controls from a balanced or unbalanced stereo line level source.
MixPre
The Sound Devices MixPre is a fully featured 2 into 2 battery powered Mini-Mixer particularly aimed at the provision of all normal professional audio facilities: phantom powering slate mic, 1 kHz tone
generator etc., in front of one of the current crop of prosumer DV cameras.
MM-1
The Sound Devices MM-1 is a transformer in/out battery powered Microphone Amplifier with built in headphone monitoring amplifier and features switchable bass cut, 12 or 48V phantom
microphone power or T-power. Its line output driver makes it suitable for feeding very long cable runs.
MP-1
The Sound Devices MP-1 is a transformer in/out battery powered Microphone Amplifier that features stepped gain control, limiter, switchable bass cut and 12/48V phantom power.
