Micron Explorer Series The Explorer Series radio microphone system has been introduced at a highly affordable price point and comprises the TX700-A Pocket Transmitter and the SR550 Small Receiver together with powering, camera-mounting and microphone options. The Micron Explorer products feature rugged metal construction using a high-strength yet lightweight one-piece aluminium extrusion with robust long-life connectors. They are designed for operation with DV camcorders, for creating mixer-to-camera wireless links, and for general location recording and ENG applications. Switchable across 100 frequencies, the Explorer Series is available with a choice of RF bandwidths up to 32 MHz, to provide freelancers and OB crews alike with a high degree of operational flexibility and freedom for international working. The Explorer's sophisticated design acknowledges our over-crowded spectrum, and the non-harmonised radio microphone allocations of several territories. The choice of
one hundred frequencies, combined with the broad system bandwidth, ensures high levels of frequency agility, with the TX700-A designed to provide the highest
possible quality of transmitted signal. This approach achieves the utmost flexibility in operation for crews, operators and recordists, whether working internationally or simply under circumstances prone to Preserving audio signal integrity is also a priority. The TX700-A offers easy adjustment of the audio input level via a secure top-panel control, with a peak-reading LED level indicator. Designed to handle very high input levels, with generous headroom, the TX700-A includes a fast-response limiter with a soft curve that is set up specifically to avoid clipping the signal on peaks. Also acting as an automatic gain control, but free of the pumping effects usually associated with this type of circuit, the limiter enables operation with lower-budget camcorders or mixers. Dedicated audio input cables are available to connect mic or line level signals to the transmitter, and to power a variety of microphone types, such as T-powering low -voltage condensers and P48 phantom-powered designs. Equipped with a battery-status LED indicator, the TX700-A can be powered by alkaline or lithium batteries, with the unique battery compartment enabling quick and simple battery replacement. The battery compartment's design, together with the Explorer's overall strength and durability, is focused on withstanding the heavy demands of location use. Designed to operate with the new generation of DV camcorders, the SR550 is an ultra-compact receiver, available at an extremely modest cost. Useful in situations where receiver size and weight are important, the SR550 maintains absolute integrity in terms of overall quality, performance and reliability, and is small and light enough for easy mounting on camcorders. The SR550 offers 100 switchable frequencies across a 32MHz or 24MHz bandwidth, depending on regional or national requirements, to avoid interference from local RF
sources and to provide maximum flexibility for location and outside broadcast. Designed with the new generation of DV camcorders in mind, the Micron Explorer SR550 is an ultra-compact receiver. Particularly useful in situations where receiver size and weight are important, the SR550 is small and light enough for easy mounting on camcorders, via optional adapters. The receiver offers 100 frequencies across a 32MHz or 24MHz bandwidth, depending on regional or national requirements, to avoid interference from local RF sources and to provide maximum flexibility for location sound and outside broadcast applications. The SR550 features multiple RF stages to give high sensitivity and selectivity, while the receiver's unique noise reduction system is designed to provide trouble-free operation in low RF signal situations, and even in hostile RF environments. Audio output level is via a three-position switch, to match the input requirements of camcorders, mixers and ancillary systems. Two 3-colour LED displays provide continuous information on received signal strength and battery condition, and the SR550 can be powered from an internal battery, or from an external source via the unit’s multi-pin input connector. Featuring the same battery compartment design and case construction as the TX700-A, the receiver represents a high-quality product, engineered for reliable long-term operation.
