Micron’s new Explorer 100 Series radio microphone system brings new levels of performance with affordability for wireless sound capture.
The Explorer 100 Series is available as individual units with 16 or 256 pre-programmed frequencies in both diversity and non-diversity reception options, or in combination in a range of kits to suit various
applications.
Also available is range of accessories, cases for multiple receivers and microphones
SDR116 Diversity Receiver for DV Cam - 16 pre-programmed frequencies.
The SDR116 is a small diversity receiver, available at an extremely modest cost. Designed for use in situations where receiver size and weight is at a premium, the SDR116
maintains absolute integrity in terms of overall quality, performance and reliability yet is small and light enough for easy mounting on DV camcorders.
MICRON Explorer SDR receivers are true space diversity designs, comprising 2 independent receiver sections fed from separate antennae. A combining circuit automatically rejects the output from
the receiver with the weakest signal, giving dramatic improvement to dead spot (signal dropout) problems when compared to a conventional (non-diversity or an antenna diversity) design. If
signals of similar strength are received, the audio outputs are mixed to improve the signal to noise ratio still further.
Offering excellent standards of RF performance, the SDR116 features multiple RF stages to give outstanding sensitivity and selectivity, while the digitally controlled circuitry achieves optimum
mobile operations. The receiver’s unique noise reduction system provides trouble-free operation in low RF signal situations, and even in hostile RF environments.
The variable high-level audio output can be used for feeding mic or line inputs. A tricolour LED display on the top panel provides continuous information on battery status while two LEDs above each antenna socket
show which of the receivers is active. A secure on/off switch is also provided on the top pane l.
Powering is by an internal battery or externally, either by 4-pin Hirose connector using a Micron AOCPH0-HR4 cable or via the antenna connector by phantom power.
The SDR116 uses the unique Micron battery compartment design, which enables quick and simple battery replacement together with the
Explorer’s overall strength and durability, is focused on withstanding the heavy demands of location use.
Portable 2-way (DDH2-A) and multi-channel system cases (SDRQH, SQDC-1A) are
available to carry up to 4 SDR receivers, or can be cascaded to 6 or 8 channels.
SDR256 Diversity Receiver for DV Cam - 256 pre-programmed frequencies.
The Explorer SDR256’s sophisticated design acknowledges our overcrowded frequency spectrum, and the non-harmonised radio microphone allocations of several territories. The SDR256
provides the user with broad operation bandwidth and frequency agility, ensuring high a quality of performance with great flexibility in operation for crews, operators and recordists.

SR116 Receiver for DV Cam - 16 pre-programmed frequencies.
Designed to operate with the new generation of DV camcorders the SR116 is an ultra-compact receiver, available at an extremely modest cost. Useful in situations where
receiver size and weight are important, the SR116 maintains absolute integrity in terms of overall quality, performance and reliability while being small and light enough for easy mounting on camcorders.
The SR116 offers 16 switchable frequencies across a 24MHz bandwidth, depending on regional or national requirements, to avoid interference from local RF sources and to
provide maximum flexibility for location and outside broadcast use.
Offering excellent standards of RF performance, the SR116 features multiple RF stages to give outstanding sensitivity and selectivity, while the digitally controlled circuitry
achieves optimum mobile operations. The receiver’s unique noise reduction system provides trouble-free operation in low RF signal situations, and even in hostile RF environments.
Audio output level is controlled by a three-position switch, to match the input signal requirements of camcorders, mixers and ancillary systems. Two LED displays on the
top panel provide continuous information on received signal strength and battery condition. A secure on/off switch is also provided on the top panel.
Powering can be from internal battery or from an external source via the 4-pin Hirose input connector using optional adaptor cables. Featuring the same battery compartment design and case construction as the TX716A
, the receiver represents a high-quality product engineered for reliable long-term operation.
SDR550B Diversity Receiver - 256 pre-programmed frequencies.
As SDR256 but with Transmitter Low Battery indication (matching with transmitter TX700B)
TX716A Transmitter for SR116 & SDR116 - 16 pre-programmed frequencies.
The Explorer’s sophisticated design acknowledges our overcrowded frequency spectrum, and the non-hamonised radio microphone allocations of several territories.
the choice of 16 frequencies combined with the broad system bandwidth, ensures high levels of frequency agility, with the TX716A designed to provide the highest possible quality of transmitted signal.
This approach achieves the utmost flexibility in operation for crews, operators and recordists, whether working internationally or simply under circumstances prone to interference, and offers
the freedom and convenience of being able to use the system across the world.
Preserving audio signal integrity is also a priority. The TX716A offers easy adjustment of the audio input level via a secure top-panel control, with a peak-reading LED level indicator. Designed
to handle very high input levels, with generous headroom, the TX716A includes a fast-response limiter with a soft curve that is set-up specifically to avoid clipping the signal on peaks. Also
acting as automatic gain control, but free of the pumping effects usually associated with this type of circuit, the limiter enables operation with lower-budget camcorders or mixers.
For long term reliability the TX716A uses a very high quality 6-pin Lemo as mic input connector and miniature SMA antenna connector .
Dedicated audio input cables are available to connect mic or line level signals to the transmitter, and to power a variety of microphone types, such as T-powering low-voltage
condensers and P48 phantom powered designs. Equipped with a battery status LED indicator, the TX716A can be powered by standard alkaline battery with the unique battery compartment enabling
quick and simple battery replacement. The battery compartment’s design, together with the Explorer’s overall strength and durability is focused on withstanding the heavy demands of location use.
