Introduction to DPA Miniature Microphones

MicroDot connector system DPA miniature microphone cables are terminated with a high quality miniature MicroDot
connector, providing a flexible, cost effective microphone solution. The feature effectively multiplies your microphone inventory, since you can use the same miniature microphone on nearly any professional wireless
system available plus 48 V Phantom using a DPA adapter.
Moisture protection The vertically mounted diaphragm, a double vent protection system, and the use of water resistant materials throughout the
construction provide exceptional immunity to aggressive fluids, such as human sweat, on the microphone capsule, headband and cable.
Strong and pliable cable DPA’s Kevlar®-reinforced cable is
one of the strongest on the pro audio market, designed to withstand extreme use. At the same time, it is soft and pliable for easy handling and a comfortable fit.
Handling high sound pressure The
various DPA miniatures can handle high sound pressure levels (SPL) ranging from 134 dB to 154 dB peak before clipping, which enables an array of high sound level applications and close-miking solutions.
Low noise With equivalent noise levels down to 23 dB(A), the miniatures exhibit a low noise level, so the sound source will not "drown" in the noise from the microphone itself. The distinguishing
combination of low noise and high SPL attributes, provide the widest dynamic range.
High sensitivity DPA miniatures are designed to deliver high output, so the need for amplification (gain) is kept
at a minimum. With the high output level and low impedance of the miniatures, the cable can be run to 300 meters (984 feet).
Acoustic modification Positioning a lavalier microphone on the chest, for
typical speech applications, creates an unfortunate frequency response, with loss of mid and high frequencies and a boost in the mid and low frequencies, thus dramatically deteriorating speech clarity. Using the
interchangeable grids creates an acoustic modification to eliminate these problems and compensates the need for equalisation and additional editing.
