Canare offer two ranges of very high performance, 75ohm Digital Video Patching systems, also suitable for analogue installations. Based on innovative dual-jack designs, performance is assured beyond 1.5GHz for WE
format and 3GHz for MD format.
Both systems have the option of either “normal through” switching (no looping plug required) or “straight through” where open jacks are 75ohm terminated. The WE system provides 20, 24 or 26 dual-jacks per row while
the MD system gives 32 dual jacks per row.
WE System
Canare Digital Video Patchbays are designed for maximum reliability and will pass all SDI signal formats with excellent return loss characteristics for low signal reflections. Panels are available in loaded or
unloaded form and may be custom ordered with a mixture of Normal and Straight through jacks. Panel sizes are 1U, 1 dual-jack row; 2U, 2 dual-jack rows; and 4U with
3 dual-jack rows. Each panel size comes in 24 or 26 jacks per row and additional for smaller installs a 1U x 20 dual-jack panel is available.
At the heart of the WE system is the DVJ Dual Video Jack. This conforms to WE .090” specifications for the patching contact and uses standard 75ohm BNC termination at the rear.
Switching is by sealed microswitch contacts with 30,000 insertion cycle rating. The DVJ jacks are mounted from the rear but fixed by screws from the front panel making removal for servicing quick and easy.
DVJ-W (Normal through)
Signal routes between top and bottom rear BNC without the use of external looping plugs or patchcord. Inserting a WE plug into either front port automatically terminates the unconnected signal path with 75ohms.
DVJ-S (Straight through)
Rear BNC connections are automatically terminated with 75ohms. Inserting a WE plug at the front port breaks the 75ohm termination and makes connection to the respective rear BNC terminal.
LP-1
The LP-1 Looping Plug allows a “normal through” connection to be achieved with DVJ-S jacks. It is available in all ten standard colours. Return loss is better than 20dB up to 1.5GHz.
MD System
This system is derived from the WE system and uses revised Dual Video Jacks with reduced dimensions for higher packing density and a newly developed dual contact rotary switch with normal
through return loss of 20dB or more up to 3GHz.
32MD 32MDS
Standard 1U 19” panels holding 32 normal through dual jacks (32MD) or 32 straight through dual jacks (32MDS)
Because the spacing of jacks is on 12.7mm (1/2”) centres, standard patch plugs and BNC connectors are too wide in diameter to be used. Canare provide a range of
matching interconnection components to fit their standard coaxial cables.
MDVJ-W (Normal through)
Signal routes between top and bottom rear BNC without the use of external looping plugs or patchcord. Inserting an MVP plug into either front port automatically terminates the unconnected signal path with 75ohms.
MDVJ-S (Straight through)
Rear BNC connections are automatically terminated with 75ohms. Inserting a MVP plug at the front port breaks the 75ohm termination and makes connection to the respective rear BNC terminal.
MVP-C4
Mid-size video patch plug for LV-61S cable (RG-59B/U). Gold-plated centre contact pin compatible with mid-size video jacks MDVJ-W and MDVJ-S. Affords a return loss of 20dB or more, DC-2.4GHz.

MBCP-C*
Slim BNC plugs with 12mm O.D. for rear connection to MDVJ-W and MDVJ-S mid-size video jacks. Return loss performance 20dB or better from DC-2.4GHz. Versions available for L-2.5CFB, L-3CFB,
LV-61S, L-4CFB, 1694A and L-5CFB cables.
BCJ-MVP
Mid-size patch plug to female BNC adaptor. Return loss of 26db or more, DC-3GHz.
BET-MBNC
Driver for insertion and removal of slim BNC plugs on the rear of 32-way patchbay (not suitable for standard BNC connectors).
