The Star Quad Story
The 4-conductor Star Quad arrangement cancels electromagnetically induced noise from SCR dimmer packs, fluorescent lighting ballasts and AC power transformers. The picture below shows susceptibility of two cable
types when run parallel to a wire loop driven by an SCR dimmer.
The signal generated by a microphone during quiet periods can be very low in level, -70dB to -120dB (0.3 millivolts to 1 microvolt). Cables carrying this signal are very
sensitive to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and electrostatic coupling of hum and noise. The Star Quad configuration measurably reduces such external influences.
Handling noise is prevented by use of cotton filler material. Excellent frequency response is maintained due to special irradiated polyethylene insulation which provides
a low capacitance dielectric. Canare Star Quad cable is super flexible. It uses large numbers of thin wire strands in the copper conductors and overall braided shield.
Canare extrude a special compound PVC outer jacket that remains pliant at extremely low temperatures with no wait between cold shipping and installation.

Screened Single Conductor Instrument Cable

A specially designed Oxygen Free Copper 18 AWG cable for connecting Guitar/Bass or Keyboards to amps, mixers, effects pedals and all outboard signal processing gear. Low capacitance and low

Designed for speaker cables where relatively high power signal levels are employed with the potential to produce correspondingly high magnetic fields. By pairing
conductors in the star quad configuration, where each conductor is the same distance from the centre, the opposing magnetic fields are cancelled out.
Conductor construction uses many thin strands of annealed copper for for excellent flexibility and long life. Special polyethylene insulation offers reduced capacitance and
reduced impedance for improved frequency response over long cable runs. Individual conductor colours allow easy continuity checks (red, clear red, white and clear white).
The durable PVC jacket resists tears and cracks and remains flexible at sub-zero temperatures.
These cables also find use in low voltage powering systems, especially 4S6 which is small enough to fit most commonly used connectors.
