Audio 2040 Series

DX2040

The DX2040 true diversity receiver is the newest addition to Audio’s RMS2040 range of radio microphone systems and delivers the broadcast quality audio that the 2040 system is already renowned for.

The all new design incorporates the latest advanced technology to enhance multi-channel operation with a switching bandwidth of up to 24MHz and 32 pre-programmed frequencies.

The receiver can be internally powered from two 1.5V, AA (LR6) type batteries giving up to 5 hours use on good quality alkaline batteries (longer using lithium type), and externally powered (with a supply range of 6-18V DC) using cables available from Audio.

The DX2040 receiver has Audio’s unique infrared interface allowing the user to set all parameters via the SwitchiR, a keyfob-sized remote control unit. Additionally, scanning with signal strength on location is possible through AudiR for Palm. These features are normally only found on mains powered studio based rack systems.

A standard six pin Lemo connector interface means existing cables can be used and the receiver is fully backwards compatible with Audio’s older RMS2020 and RMS2000 ranges.

HX2040

The new HX2040 is designed to accept one of 14 different condenser capsules from the Schoeps Colette range,Audio 2040 Series - HX2040 which are widely acknowledged to be the highest quality condenser capsules on the market. It features a unique gel-based suspension system, to minimise handling noise.

The transmitter has been carefully designed in a classic conical shape, that suits different users’ grips, and the battery compartment has been designed to accept one AAbattery - commonly available all over the world providing up to 6 hours continuous use from an alkaline battery. Double the life can be achieved from a Lithium battery.

The microphone has 32 pre-programmed frequencies with up to 24MHz switching bandwidth. The unique infrared remote control interface is built-in for reliable and accessible control over settings via the SwitchiR or AudiR application for Palm PDAs.

Even with these features, the HX2040 is competitively priced for such a high quality, advanced specification transmitter when compared with other professional handheld transmitters on the market.

Pop screen accessory designed by Schoeps minimises the popping effect when used as a vocal microphone in close proximity.

TX2040

TAudio 2040 Series - TX2040he new TX2040 transmitter features Audio’s unique infrared interface, which allows the transmitter to be controlled remotely: it can be switched on and off, frequencies can be altered and microphone gain changed, the battery status checked all without touching the unit itself.

The sound professional can also use the unique Control-X device to switch the transmitter on and off, even when it is worn beneath clothing – great for film and drama! The device displays the frequency on which the TX2040 is operating, enabling the sound engineer to identify the particular transmitter, even when it can’t be seen. The remote control features can also be operated by the SwitchIR control system, or from a Palm PDA, using free downloadable Palm AudiR software.

The absence of mechanical switches on the TX2040 reduces wear, and ensures a greater degree of water proofing, for improved durability and reliability. The battery compartment is integrated into the transmitter case, to prevent the battery coming a drift in use, and has been designed to accommodate larger 9V batteries. The TX2040 will often last for a full day without the need to replace the batteries.

The unit has 32 pre-programmed frequencies, with a switching bandwidth of up to 24MHz, which is the equivalent of three European TV channels, or four US channels. Despite its host of new features, the transmitter remains the same size as the TX2020, and is fully compatible with Audio’s receivers from the current RMS2020 and older RMS2000 UHF systems. As with all Audio products, RF and audio performance are excellent.

The TX2040 is compact, sleek and stylish, with rounded edges to make it more comfortable for the artist to wear.

RK2040

This compact 1U, 19-inch rack is capable of accommodating up to four diversity receivers - the minimum specification unit has two receivers; additional receiver modules can be purchased separately. Each receiver has an individual LCD display, showing RF levels for both sides of the diversity, audio level, low transmitter battery level, and name, frequency and audio output level for each artist.
Audio 2040 Series - RK2040

Each receiver has 32 pre-programmed frequencies, and an increased switching bandwidth of up to 24MHz. There is a built-in active distribution amplifier, so only two antennae are needed to supply the signal for four receivers. With two racks cascaded together, only two antennae are needed, eliminating the need for additional splitters and combiners. Eight receivers can be operated from one set of antennae, a feature that is unique to the RK2040.

The RK2040 can be mains powered via an AC/DC adapter, or can be powered from any DC source with voltages from 10 to 18 volts (so, for example, a car battery can be used), via a four-pin XLR socket.

Four transformer balanced line-level outputs.

Built-in RS485 PC interface for remote monitoring and control via Audio Ltd’s custom designed monitoring PC based application. PC can be located up to 4000 feet away from the racks. Since up to 24 racks can be linked together, and only one cable is needed, up to 92 receivers can be monitored over one cable. The software to monitor the racks is included in the price.

Control-X

The new Control-X unit is a unique device, designed by Audio to control the TX2040 transmitter. Control-X uses electromagnetic induction to enable the transmitter to be controlled remotely. Audio 2040 Series - Control-XAs long as the Control-X handset is within 20cm (8 ins), the transmitter can be switched on and off, frequencies checked and displayed, all without touching the transmitter itself. What’s more, unlike other remote devices, Control-X can do all of this even if the transmitter is hidden beneath clothing: in costume dramas and similar applications, this facility can be of considerable benefit in making sound control simpler, more efficient and less problematic for the artist.

With the handset held within 20cm (eight ins) of the transmitter aerial, the frequency of any transmitter can be checked using a single push-button display; the frequency is displayed on an LCD panel. Similarly, the transmitter can be switched off and on using push buttons on the handset; when the transmitter is switched on, the Control-X handset displays the transmitter frequency.

The Control-X unit can also be used to self-test its own battery - it involves simply pressing and releasing the On and Off buttons simultaneously. In addition, it can be used to check the battery power of any Audio Ltd transmitter or receiver, with a 6-pin Lemo connector. The Control-X also has external battery contacts allowing the testing of 9V6LR61 type batteries.

Control-X has been designed following feedback from sound professionals, who needed a control device that could be used with concealed transmitters, but without needing the artist to remove any part of their costume. No other transmitter control has this capability: another first from Audio

SwitchiR

Despite being the size of a key fob, the unique SwitchiR infra red remote controller unit will access all the user settable functions of the TX2040 unit. With just four buttons, an LCD display and a simple menu system, you have full control over every convenient feAudio 2040 Series - Switch-iRature.

Functions include:

  • Frequency check and change
  • Audio level - output level on TX2040 - check and change
  • Battery status of receiver/transmitter
  • Battery status of SwitchiR
  • Check 6LR61 type 9V batteries
  • Check serial number of unit
  • Check user identification
  • Infra red disable
  • Turn off transmitter

The SwitchiR, when combined with the TX2040 and HX2040 units, adds up to one of the most simple-to-use, yet versatile, high quality audio systems on the market.
